There are skill levels built into military maintenance too. Some things are only be worked on by supervisors and specialist staff. But there are training materials and guidance for these things. There’s a lot of certifications that people are required to keep up with in order to repair and operate multi-million dollar pieces of equipment, but with a trained service member, the military can put people where they need them
I could spin a lot of things into that email. There’s a lot of morality in the Bible that isn’t followed by the government
Implying that trans people aren’t staring down a genocide
The National Guard is a state institution, so it might go contrary to the federal government
I’m just imagining how much logistic support they’re going to need and how many people they’ll have to move for this
That doesn’t really have much to do with domestic stuff. I mean, every military does fucked up stuff, but at the end of the day, they’re made of people and have their families. Even myself.
As a service member, I educated myself on tactics, philosophy, diplomacy, economics, culture, mental health, geography, and many other topics to understand how and why military force is used. I know it’s not for democracy à la Helldivers. It’s used to keep the trade going and to conduct politics through harder power.
You might be an isolationist and that’s fine. But don’t insult the intelligence of myself who dealt with all sorts of philosophical dilemma and educated herself and others around her
As much crap is is going on in the world right now, the US military still has some scruples. They don’t just blindly follow Trump’s orders. And especially wouldn’t just fire into their countrymen. Trump hasn’t managed to take over every institution yet. Especially the military.
Service members know how to complain and think for themselves. And if something doesn’t seem right, they will clarify the heck out of it and push back. It’s not the Russian military
This sounds like a completely proportional and legal response /s
This is definitely against the first amendment
I’m a recently separated transgender veteran, and I’m well connected with those directly affected by this. Most branches are taking a similar route with a option to either voluntarily separate or else involuntarily separate after a board meets to separate you. Involuntary separation will take a much longer time, however some people still might like to take it just to be done with the military.
There’s very likely going to be a temporary restraining order on the effects of these executive orders. The case to look at is called Talbot V Trump. We are expecting to see it issued in the next week.
People can be separated from the military for a number of reasons including medical reasons, disciplinary reasons, inability to do their job, or other reasons. Most people will be discharged under honorable conditions, (unless there are other conditions that would characterize it differently)
I had a friend that separated early because of something the Air Force deemed “failure to adjust to the military environment”
This is One of the major things I’m worried about.
Namely I’m worried about mental health service, and getting medications paid for from the VA. I may have to find “alternate causes” to justify taking estrogen. Or else I may have to pick up the bill on some things.
Does this actually cite the GAO’s report? Or is it made up?
It sounds truthy enough, but there’s nothing to validate it. It’s equally possible (or rather I’m almost certain) that this is Russian propaganda designed to split the USA even more. I wouldn’t pay much attention to this right now.
That said, he keeps playing into Russian talking points as if he were Dimitri Medvedev himself
Yep. After this I’m wondering which of my VA benefits will actually remain. I’ve lost my confidence that the VA will provide me anything. I can’t go to them for anything with regards to Gender Dysphoria, and I really don’t know what I can do. No way I’ll be able to get any VA disability (TBH I don’t have a great case for that anyways) but now I can’t trust my government at all now. I’m hoping that they’ll still accept DEI for veterans, especially since apparently we’re supposed to be good in society, but I still don’t have any confidence.
It’s not about cost for care benefits to the patients, it’s purely an ideological thing.
I can’t speak of the cost to Medicare but I can speak to the cost to the military.
The DoD spent 52 million dollars over 10 years on gender affirming care. It will spend 18 billion on replacing all of the trans service members that it is kicking out.
This means it will take 3,000 years of GAC to catch up with the cost of dismissing all of these service members.
