Well regarding plan9port, it is really, really easy to acquire… just clone the Github repo (https://github.com/9fans/plan9port), run ./INSTALL and everything else sorts itself out ;-)

Well, it keeps my brain from rotting 😀 just half joking… i have noticed that whenever i use a somewhat more “user friendly” software my mind starts to wander off more easily and instead of being more focussed on the programming task i shortly after find myself doing… $THING instead of being productive. So, being the only jack-of-all-trades-computer-guy in a small-ish company i tend to chose the tools that work for me, even if they are a bit… anachronistic.
I think the best maintained version of Sam would be the one included in 9front (if you want some truely special experience) or if you want to stay (somewhat) in the realm of the sane you can use plan9port which also brings in many nice tools out of the Plan9 ecosystem.

I DO like to code via ED because the design and workflow of ED (or even better: Sam) makes folding unnecessary because you only put on the screen what is needed right at that moment. Want to see two functions 1000 lines apart? No problem, just print them right below each other on the screen.

The SDFEU is in so far connected to the US as the original SDF (sdf.org) started as a BBS running on a single computer in the bedroom of a guy in the US. The other SDF’s (EU and China) are completely separate entities.
If you still want to take a look, simply telnet or ssh into sdfeu.org, create a guest account and look at the documentation. The process may seem a bit weird, but SDF is not a typical hosting provider… its a bit more of a cult.

If it would be a small scale attack (like sinking a german submarine or a drone strike on a container terminal) it would be doubted that if it was a real attack or if it was a false flag action from whoever to force us to attack russia.
If it would be a major attack, like flattening the Hamburg container port or taking a one or more of the german islands it would be the sentiment that we already have lost, that it would be better to negotiate before it REALLY escalates and we lose everything.
Let just say i have not a good opinion of the resilience of many of my fellow german countrymen (and women, and others).
Well, russia started BAD into the conflict, but they in fact did learn and innovate… and the influx of north korean soldiers surely do help them.
No, i think its more of a general test. I sincerely believe that any form of mobilisation in germany would be followed up by massive protests and calls from the public for the government to step down… especially if german troops would engage in real combat.
The thing is: We have a big german-russian population and still tons of people who are still stuck in the peace movement days of the 60s - 80s… so, i really doubt that we would do more than send our equivalent of “thoughts and prayers” and perhaps some intel.
